How to disable old Wi-Fi:
- From a PC connect to the old Wi-Fi
- Log into the old Wi-Fi router
- Find the old Wi-Fi router’s admin login
- First look under the router it should be listed on the sticker. It’s usually one of the following: 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1
- Put this number in your browser: http://192.168.0.1 OR http://192.168.1.1
- You will now be at the old Wi-Fi router admin page – skip down to

- Windows
- Hit CTRL-R on your keyboard
- Type ‘cmd’ in the Run window:
- Hit Enter to open a DOS Command Prompt (black window)
- Type > ipconfig in the Command Prompt, and hit Enter
- Write down the Wireless LAN adapter Default Gateway:
- Put this number into your browsers URL bar:
- Hit Enter, and then you should be at your old Wi-Fi router’s login page. Hopefully you have the login ID & password, but usually it’s one of the following:
- admin / admin
- admin / password
- root / password
- Don’t forget to ask Google for the password if you can’t login – search for your router model + ‘how to login‘ or ‘password to login‘…most of the time you’ll find it.
- macOS
- Open System Preferences
- Click Network
- Select the connected Wi-Fi (green) in the left frame
- Click on Advanced
- Select the TCP/IP tab
- Copy the Router: IP
- Past this IP into your browser’s URL search bar:
- Hit Enter, and then you should be at your old Wi-Fi router’s login page. At this point you’ll need to figure out how to login, hopefully you have the login ID & password, but usually it’s one of the following:
admin / admin
admin / password
root / password
